Yellow Goldenback shrimp are named for the distinctive golden stripe that runs along their dorsal side, giving them a jewel-like quality that stands out even in smaller tanks. Their body is typically a pale yellow to translucent cream, with the golden stripe becoming more defined in higher-grade specimens. Peaceful and easy to breed, Goldenbacks add a subtle sparkle to planted aquariums without overwhelming the rest of the livestock.
Goldenbacks are as forgiving as any neocaridina and cope comfortably with Brunei's year-round warmth. A mature planted tank of 10 to 40 litres with gentle filtration is ideal; the golden dorsal stripe shows best under daylight-spectrum lighting. Being bred locally in Brunei Darussalam, they skip the import chain and settle in quickly.
They breed as readily as Red Cherries, with females carrying 20 to 25 eggs per clutch. Juveniles grow quickly on a diet of biofilm and powdered food. In colonies, the stripe intensity improves with each generation when the best-coloured individuals are allowed to breed along.
Add them to peaceful community tanks with small fish, or to a shrimp-only setup alongside other neocaridina colours - though be aware that cross-breeding varieties produces mixed, wild-type offspring. Standard shrimp food, blanched vegetables, and natural biofilm keep them thriving. Read the delivery guide and browse the shop for similar varieties.
